Panelfold is dedicated to reducing the strain on mother Earth's resources and keeping our environment clean. Some important green techniques we employ are:

  • Selecting suppliers that provide higher percentages of recycled content and green standards for the materials used in our products.
  • Obtaining forestry products in accordance with the Forest Stewardship Council's (FSC) principals and criteria.
  • Using low VOC adhesives, sealants, paints and coatings.
  • Recycling the cooling water used in our extrusion plant using recirculating systems.
  • Using vacuum systems with air filtration to capture dust to pull it out of the area and to collect it in a central location for safe storage and disposal.
  • Using air filtration systems with our glue and paint spray booths to capture VOC's and emit clean air back into the environment.
  • Recycling our scrap materials back into the supply chain.
  • Panelfold products can also be disassembled after use and any steel or aluminum is easily recycled.
  • Providing LEED credit data for certifiably Greener Buildings.

Panelfold fully supports the goals of the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) LEED Green Building Project Certification Program as well as the efforts of project teams to ensure that all materials and resources selected meet their green performance standards.

Panelfold products can help your projects achieve LEED Green Building certification points for recycled content, regional materials and certified wood. Panelfold provides the following information, guided by the LEED rating system, to help you be sure that our products meet your environmental performance standards. For complete information about the USGBC's LEED program visit www.usgbc.org/leed.

LEED Credits MR 4.1 and MR 4.2: Recycled Content

All new Panelfold products have recycled content. Moduflex®, PrimeSpacer®, Sonicwal®, Scale®, Signature® and EchoSorb® products all contain substantially more recycled content than the 20% that is required to achieve the maximum LEED points. The percentages expressed in the table below are the lowest within each product series. Some models within each series have higher percentages of recycled content. Click here for a for a configuration-specific summary of all Panelfold models to find the exact recycled content percentages that you may use to apply to the project.

LEED Credit MR 5.1 and MR 5.2: Regional Materials

All products are manufactured at Panelfold's factory in Miami, Florida, 33167.

All Moduflex and PrimeSpacer models contain Gypsum (except where MDF faces are specified in lieu of Gypsum). The Gypsum is extracted, processed and manufactured near Tampa, Florida which is within 500 miles of Panelfold's factory. The Gypsum accounts for 32% to 64% of the total weight of these products, depending on model. Therefore, the Gypsum contributes substantially more than the 20% required to achieve the maximum LEED points for projects located within 500 miles of Panelfold's factory. Other than Moduflex and PrimeSpacer products, no other Panelfold products are made of materials that are extracted, harvested or recovered, as well as manufactured within 500 miles of Panelfold's factory.

If the project's location is within 500 miles of Panelfold's factory, and Moduflex or PrimeSpacer models are used (however, not with MDF faces), then click here to quantify the exact gypsum composition percentage from the Material Composition Summary of the respective configuration to apply LEED Regional Material credits to the project.

LEED Credit MR 7: Certified Wood

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is used in all Scale, Signature and Sonicwal models. Also, MDF is an available substrate option on Moduflex Series 400, Moduflex Series 600 and PrimeSpacer models. The MDF is made of 100% pre-consumer recycled or reclaimed content such as wood chips and shavings, does not contain any "new" wood, and is certified as an Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP) in accordance with the Forest Stewardship Council's (FSC) principals and criteria.

If the project uses MDF then click here to quantify the exact MDF composition percentage from the Material Composition Summary of the respective configuration to apply LEED Certified Wood credits to the project.
